The Midwife Touch…gentle, trauma-informed pelvic ultrasound
For many, that first ultrasound is both an exciting, but anxiety-inducing milestone. At Revolutions Midwifery, we understand the many feelings around this moment in your pregnancy care.
Your ultrasound will be performed by a knowledgeable, state licensed nurse-midwife who will immediately be able to answer any questions you have–no waiting for a radiologist to “read” the report, or radiology techs who aren’t allowed to tell you anything about your images.
Our approach is patient-centered. We engage you as an active participant in the process and all ultrasound findings are discussed with you right at your appointment, which typically lasts about 45 minutes.
Clients are welcome to call to schedule their own ultrasound. If you are already working with a prenatal care provider, we can fax ultrasound reports and images to them with your signed consent. Providers are also welcome to refer clients for imaging using the link below.
Complications and Early Pregnancy Loss
If there are any complications noted during your ultrasound that warrant more in-depth ultrasound, we can collaborate with your current providere to initiate a referral to an OB/GYN or Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist.
In the event that you come in for an OB ultrasound and we diagnose or confirm diagnosis of a previously suspected early pregnancy loss, we are able to offer same-day miscarriage support.
This includes counseling on all care options, lab testing if needed, and medications if this is your preferred treatment plan, as well as a 2 week follow up visit. For those later than 10 weeks gestation, we would refer to an OB/GYN as wwe do not currently offer aspiration services.
